I feel I am constantly struggling with my 3 teenagers in their bedrooms. I am the mean mom. Suggestions?
Three teens, 17, 18 and 19. I tell them I asked to clean their rooms and bathrooms. This seems to be a losing battle and I'm on the losing side. Tired of the madness. Other than asking the older two to relocate, suggestions? The days of time outs are completed.
Now is the time choose your battles and consider a compromise. Sit down with all of them and just having a good conversation. Let them talk about how they think of the arrangement of cleaning and you tell them how you feel. Surely they all understand that living together and you all need to share responsibility housework. Maybe you can come to some sort of compromise. If they'll take turns cleaning the bathroom every two days or two, then their rooms do not have to be perfectly clean. They should at least keep things picked up though. No food or drink is simply placed around 3 weeks and not underwear dirty old man. These are adults, the time you all sit down and talk like him. If they give you attitude, then remind them that it's your house, your rules. If they do not, they can leave. If they will not help the responsibilities of home and / or say things like "Its my room I'll do what I want, then start charging them rent for "their part".
